Mayor Tess Timbol shares the best practices of the LGU Kapalong on revenue generation and tax collection strategies during the General Orientation on Local Governance and Administration for the Bangsamoro Local Chief Executives at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City with the theme: “Fostering Synergy and Strengthening Commitment to Moral Governance for a Stronger Bangsamoro”.
The convocation of the newly elected Chief Executives was initiated by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency, Support to Bangsamoro Transition, and Local Government Academy.
The program for newly elected officials, which aims to improve service delivery and organizational performance, is designed and implemented by LGA. Its objectives include enhancing participants' competencies and operationalizing their vision and agenda.
On the other hand, Mayor Timbol emphasizes, among other measures, the following specific strategies of the revenue-collecting offices of the Local Government Unit of Kapalong:
1. Developing a public education and coordinated system of billing and collection at the barangay level. 2. Leveraging of the Provincial and Local Real Property Tax Code to increase the threshold of revenue collection.
3. Streamlining the ease of doing business in the local context to complement industries affected by the crisis, focusing on other nature of business, and reducing documentary requirements.
4. Full compliance of the local college to the free tuition and other fees of CHED resulting to massive increase of population among students; and igniting the local economy through food establishments, boarding houses, and other micro businesses.
5. Investment promotion and facilitation.
6. Enabling innovative support to MSMEs in terms of food tourism, festivals, and other similar activities.
The primary goal of the orientation for newly elected officials is to assist them in navigating their first 100 days in office and to explore strategic and transformative actions to strengthen the leadership and management capabilities of their local government to improve services and performance.
