The Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) of LGU Kapalong has achieved a significant milestone in enhancing the LGU’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Zoning Ordinance (ZO). On September 4-6, 2024, the Enhanced Local Urban Planning and Development Division (ELUPDD) of DHSUD Region XI facilitated a 3-day Special Training-Workshop on the Formulation/Updating of Risk-Sensitive CLUP and ZO, focusing on CLUP Zoning Concepts, Scope, and Coverage as well as the Formulation of the Zoning Ordinance and the integration of the Local Shelter Plan (LSP) into the Enhanced Housing Sub-Sector of the CLUP. To optimize time, two specialized workshops were conducted concurrently, with each addressing different focus areas.
One workshop, led by EnP Ryan Anthony A. Paran, MSERM, Division Chief/HHRO VI, alongside experts EnP Iyarmoon G. Dulay (HHRO IV) and Eden A. Santiago (HHRO IV), concentrated on the technicalities of zoning concepts to ensure Kapalong’s sustainable development. Simultaneously, another group, guided by a team of experts, Engr. Grace L. Magalona, EnP (HHRO V), Katrina May F. Diesca, R.Agr. (HHRO II), and Liezel M. Clarion, R.Agr. (HHRO I), worked on integrating the LSP into the enhanced housing sub-sector of the CLUP, ensuring that the municipality’s housing strategies are inclusive and resilient to future risks. Collectively, these efforts laid the foundation for a comprehensive, risk-informed approach to both zoning and urban planning within the Local Government Unit of Kapalong.
