Mayor Timbol and 9 Barangay Full Council, conduct benchmarking at Makati City for Comprehensive DRRM optimization

In response to the need to optimize the implementation of Comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), LGU Kapalong—spearheaded by Mayor Maria Theresa Royo-Timbol along with over 90 barangay officials and functionaries —visited the premier city of the National Capital Region (NCR), and the financial capital of the Philippines, Makati City, for a benchmarking activity from August 29 to September 2, 2024.

During the introduction of guests, Kapalong Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer Mr. Arnel L. Panimbo, MPA-LG, LPT, pinpointed the main aim of the visit, which focused on observing Makati’s successful implementation of DRRM.

“By observing the successful implementation strategies employed by the City of Makati, we aim to gather insights, best practices, and innovative approaches that can be adapted to our own unique context in Kapalong,” he said.

The five-day activity included a presentation on Makati's DRRM, delivered by Mr. Ryan Tagle— Operations and Warding Division Head; a question and answer session; a visit to the Makati Command Control and Communication Center; and more.

With the learnings and dose of inspiration from the activity, LGU Kapalong will keep moving forward as it continues to realize its vision of establishing an efficient and effective implementation of Comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, which will benefit the barangays of Kapalong—a step towards advancing the resiliency and adaptability of the municipality.
