Kapalong Launches Safe Hub Project to Promote Health and Safety Awareness

Kapalong, Davao del Norte -- The Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students from Kapalong National High School (KNHS), under the Community Engagement, Solidarity, and Citizenship (CESC) program, spearheaded the launch of the Safe Hub Project with the theme: "Strengthening Awareness for Fitness, Empowerment, Health, Unity, and Balance: A Healthy Workplace Program" during the weekly convocation held on March 24, 2025, at the Kapalong Municipal Gymnasium.The event was graced by Mayor Theresa R. Timbol, along with the local government unit (LGU) department heads, section chiefs, and employees. The Safe Hub Project aims to promote seven essential healthy habits:Care for Yourself and Care for OthersPractice Safe SexBe Clean, Be HealthyMove More, Eat RightGet VaccinatedSay No to DrugsDo No Harm, Put Safety FirstTo emphasize these vital habits, Grade 12 HUMSS students presented a series of rationales and a video presentation, underscoring the importance of prioritizing health and safety within the community.In line with the observance of Fire Prevention Month, Mayor Timbol also led a Fire Kiddie Marshal activity for various elementary schools across Kapalong to foster safety awareness and accident prevention among the youth. After two weeks of fire emergency response training, Maniki Central Elementary School emerged as the champion, followed by Semong Elementary School as the first runner-up and Tiburcia Elementary School as the second runner-up.Additionally, a representative from the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) reported on the cash assistance provided to local farmers, while the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) proudly announced that Kapalong achieved the Ideal Highest Level of Functionality after a successful audit."As we go about our daily lives, let us remain mindful of our actions and strive to promote a healthier lifestyle.
