Kapalong, Davao del Norte - The Management Team of various local colleges in Region XI convened at Kapalong College of Agriculture, Sciences, and Technology (KCAST) on February 21, 2025, for the Leadership Seminar on Parliamentary Procedure in Handling Board of Trustees (BOT) Meeting. The event aimed to enhance governance and decision-making efficiency among educational leaders through structured deliberations and meaningful outcomes.With the theme "BOT AT WORK: Structured Deliberations, Meaningful Outcomes," the seminar underscored the significance of proper parliamentary procedures in ensuring effective board meetings and policy-making within academic institutions.The event commenced with Opening Remarks from Dr. Rodrigo C. Licayan, Jr., College President of KCAST, who emphasized the importance of professionalizing board governance in local colleges. Kapalong Municipal Mayor, Hon. Maria Theresa R. Timbol, delivered an Inspirational Message, recognizing the pivotal role of educational leaders in shaping institutional policies that align with national development goals.To provide context and rationale for the seminar, Dr. Maricar Casquejo, CESO III, CHED ROXI Director, highlighted the relevance of parliamentary procedures in fostering transparency, accountability, and efficiency in higher education governance.Distinguished plenary speakers included Jeremy B. Barnido, Board Secretary V of Davao del Norte State College, and Khristine Liezle Arnilla, Board Secretary I of Davao del Norte State College. They shared their expertise on parliamentary rules, meeting protocols, and best practices in handling Board of Trustees meetings.The seminar brought together key officials and decision-makers from the local colleges of Region XI, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing in pursuit of academic excellence and institutional development.This initiative reflects a collective commitment to strengthening higher education governance, ensuring that board deliberations lead to impactful and well-informed decisions for the benefit of students, faculty, and the broader academic community.
