?50-Million Multipurpose Center to Rise in Ilaboon, Maniki

Kapalong, Davao del Norte -- A ?50-million multipurpose center is set to be constructed in Ilaboon, Barangay Maniki, designed to serve as a one-stop integrated community development hub. The project is spearheaded by the local government unit of Kapalong, under the leadership of Hon. Maria Theresa Royo-Timbol. The LGU has invested an initial ?10 million for site development as part of the municipality's mega project.According to Municipal Engineer Emmanuel S. Fernandez, the building will accommodate between 2,000 and 3,000 people and will feature various facilities to ensure its functionality as a true multipurpose center, situated on a 7,946-square-meter land area.Expressing gratitude for the initiative, Gemma Oca, president of the Homeowners' Association, shared during her speech: "We want to cry for happiness. We have been dreaming of this for a long time, but we know for sure that the boss of Timbol-Timbol administration will give it to us. We were never neglected."In response, Mayor Timbol emphasized the administration's commitment: "Let's continue [to] give reality to our dreams."To address the housing needs of residents affected by the construction, the mayor has also facilitated the relocation of the impacted community to housing projects in Tomonas area, Barangay Maniki--a gesture deeply appreciated by the people of Racingan, Ilaboon.The relocation site represents another significant social investment by the local government, with a robust ?14.7 million project cost covering site development, the provision of two mini bridges, drainage, roads, and retaining walls. In a statement, Mayor Timbol emphasized that the 40-square-meter lots awarded to 70 families are provided free of charge, including assistance with local documentary requirements for those applying for electricity for their homes. Additionally, the mayor announced that all beneficiaries will receive ?15,000 worth of construction materials to help kickstart the building of their houses.
